About the Role:

BlackRock’s Aladdin Engineering – Regulatory Tech team is looking for a hands-on Data Engineer who is passionate about building robust data platforms. This team develops surveillance solutions that help protect the firm against market manipulation, fraud, and other financial misconduct. The product is widely adopted internally and is being enhanced for potential external use.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys problem-solving, and has a strong grasp of the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, analysts, and business owners to design, implement, and scale data-driven solutions.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Design and implement new features for data platforms and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Improve resiliency, stability, and performance of the system.
  • Contribute to coding standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Key Technical Skills:

Python, SQL, Snowflake, Airflow, GIT, CI/CD, Unit Testing, End-to-End Testing

Nice-to-have Skills: DBT, Great Expectations, Spark, Sqoop, HDFS, YARN, Agile development

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of databases, preferably Snowflake.
  • Experience with Airflow for workflow management.
  • Solid understanding of GIT, CI/CD pipelines, and testing practices.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Interest and enthusiasm for data engineering as a career path.
  • Self-starter mindset – able to work independently in fast-paced environments.
